Virtual Introduction to Value and Shading
With Lauren Bohrman
Saturday, February 20th at 5:00 pm
Free / By Donation
New Beginnings is an exploration and celebration of budding life, awakening, and renewal. As part of this beautiful exhibition at With Intentions Holistic Studio, we are offering a virtual opportunity for anyone wanting to learn the basics and fundamentals of realistic drawing. Join us for a live virtual drawing class that will sharpen your observation skills and give you new tools to take into your new or already established art practice.
Whenever we see anything, it means that what we are looking at is being illuminated by a light source. Shading is a technique that captures and mimics that light to create the illusion of three dimensionality.
In this class you will learn how to use graphite/pencil to achieve 3d realistic drawings. Artist/teacher Lauren Bohrman will guide you through the fundamentals of value, transition of value, proper shading and blending technique, and correct use of value to create form. Using a scaffolded approach, she will focus on one aspect of shading at a time and slowly build up to more complex and creative forms.
This class is open to anyone. It is great for freshening up your skills and also perfect for the absolute beginner. Come relax, awaken your perceptions, draw, and fill your art toolbox with new techniques and skills that you can take with you into your art journey.
There will be two one hour Virtual Classes offered on Saturday, February 6th at 11:00 am and Saturday, February 20th at 5:00 pm.
This is a free workshop, but donations will be accepted to support art programming and exhibitions at With Intentions.
